Informed Fighting

Martial Arts has a long history and consists of many distinctive styles of fighting from all over the world. It has slowly gained popularity through big budget action movies, TV Shows, social media, and has given rise to billion-dollar companies like the UFC. As a student and instructor of 8 years, I have been able to identify many opportunities for design interventions: anecdotal evidence being used to support ineffective or unsafe training practices, predatory business practices, and misconceptions about the sport deterring prospective students and clients. With the help of great volunteers, I formed methods of analysis that can address these issues.
